Born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Ashton and Emma Landry, Jeanne was a free spirit with a natural flair for art. Jeanne sought a practical career, attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 1969 to 1973 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law. She went on to complete a Master of Arts degree in History in 1975 from Arkansas State University. After a 32-year career in accounting with the Internal Revenue Service, Jeanne started her own accounting firm, JLG Services, where she served as President for nearly 10 years.
Despite being a tireless worker her whole life, Jeanne loved to have fun. She enjoyed spending time with close friends and family. She loved working in her yard and tending to her plants and flowers. She loved good food and was always an excellent cook. She had an affinity for elegance and the finer things in life – travel, wine, art, interior design, and anything and everything beautiful. She loved to laugh and make people laugh – her laugh is truly unforgettable. And she adored spending time with her grandson, Gavin Dimattia.
She is survived by her daughter and two sons, Hera, Michael, and Matthew; her dear grandson, Gavin Dimattia; her sister, Jewell Kidder, of Lafayette, and nieces Aimee (Oleg) Yatsenko and Allison (Bryan) Tuck; her niece, Elise Shelton Daly, and her brother-in-law, Robert Shelton; her ex-husband and lifelong friend, John Gavin; and countless friends whom Jeanne counted among her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ashton Joseph Landry of New Iberia, LA and Emma Elise Klein Landry of New Orleans, LA; her beloved sister, Jolie Shelton; and her nephew, Thomas Shelton.
A visitation will be held on January 18th from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at The Guru, located at 1857 Government Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A celebration honoring Jeanne’s life will follow from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. No flowers, please – a card with a favorite memory of Jeanne is welcome.
