

Jim Bradley, a 50-year resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 8, 2025. He was born at home in Sycamore, AL, on March 12, 1934, and raised in Sylacauga, AL. He was a graduate of Sylacauga High School and went on to graduate from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. While at Auburn, he worked summer months at Shell and Marble Quarry. He was a member of the Air Force ROTC program and was appointed student WING Commander during his senior year. He received the honor of outstanding Industrial Management student for the State of Alabama in 1955. After graduation he received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and went on to serve in the US Air Force as a navigator in the Strategic Air Command flying in B47 bombers. His first job was with General Electric in Cincinnati, OH, as a member of the training class. After six weeks of snow and cold weather, the Air Force called him to active duty and was instructed to report to San Antonio, TX. After one month of orientation, he was assigned to Harlingen, TX, for Navigator Flight Training. He received his wings in 1958 and was then assigned to bombardier school in Sacramento, CA, followed by Survival School in Reno, NV. His next assignment was Wichita, KS, where he was introduced to Strategic Air Command and the B47 aircraft. After a stop at Little Rock Air Force Base, he went to Orlando, FL, where his crew became combat ready to bomb Russia. Shortly thereafter his three years were completed and he was discharged as a Captain in 1960. In 1960, Jim began a nearly 40-year career as a sales engineer for The Trane Company. He was a “Top 10” sales agent for 23 years, a record unmatched to date. Jim is survived by his wife of 27 years, Wanda Louise Mobley Bradley; and stepchildren, Karen Hutto (Kenneth), and Donald Hill. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Edward Bradley and Viola Mims Bradley; and sisters, Nelle B. McClure and Eloise Forte. A memorial service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 15160 S. Harrells Ferry Rd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:30am. The family asks that memorial donations be made in Jim’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
