James Adam Rush, Sr. (Jimmy) was born May 7, 1955 in Baton Rouge, LA. He left us suddenly on June 7, 2015. Visitation will be Friday, June 12th 10am-12pm at Green Oaks Funeral Home located at 9595 Florida Blvd. in Baton Rouge. Service will begin at 12pm followed by the burial. Many people claim they have the greatest father ever, we know for a fact that we did. He worked tirelessly to build a life for his wife and his children and leaves behind a legacy and a very big pair of cowboy boots to fill. He did so much for us and everyone he knew. He was a man of integrity and a man of his word. Despite the success of his company, his greatest accomplishment was his family. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 39 years, Carol Calmes Rush; three children, Amy Rush Pinkstaff and her husband Ryan, Laurie Rush and James "Jimmy" Rush Jr., and 4 grandchildren Abbie, Mason, Gunner and Chandler who thought "Big" hung the moon. He is survived by his sister JoAnne Rush, nephew Gordon Linden Rush III and wife Ashley and his great nephews and niece. Heaven gained an angel that I'm not sure they were ready for and anyone who knew Jimmy knew he was nonstop. We can only imagine the havoc he is causing up in heaven. Had they realized what they were getting into, I think they would have let us keep him a little longer. At the very least, we know Heaven's Gate is about to be upgraded to an "R&S Slider". Preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Linden Rush and Mary Elizabeth Rush and his brother, Gordon Linden Rush II. Pallbearers will be Mark Matusicky, Mel Spegal, Tom Dove, Mike Gilbert, Larry Harris, Brian Gibson, Randy Brunson, Butch Knight and Jim Wilson. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by going to www.stjude.org and donating to the James A. Rush fund.
