

Jimmy Ashton Sparkman went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Jewel Sparkman; parents, Arthur and Olive Sparkman; two sisters, Dorothy Sparkman Temple and Doris Sparkman Hamilton; and brother, Danny Arthur Sparkman. Jimmy was born and raised in Baton Rouge, graduated from Istrouma High School in 1956 and retired from the Our Lady of the Lake Maintenance Department. He is survived by his sister, Bobbie Nell Dubois and husband Joe; and brothers, Louis Sparkman and wife Joyce and Willie Sparkman and wife Sue. He is also survived by his grandson, Donny Young and wife Robyn; great-grandchildren, Joel, Taylor and Tyler "Scooter"; daughter-in-law, Martha Saucier; grandkids, Tracy and Stacy; great-grand daughter, Jada; son, Johnny Saucier and grandkids, Joshua, Kale and Clayton; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, March 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home on Monday, March 21, from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Jimmy was an avid LSU Tiger fan who loved his Tigers. Even though he spent his later years living in Houston, he never forgot the Tigers. Rest in peace Paw Paw, we love you.
