JoAnn Locricchio Impastato passed peacefully at 89, born September 13, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, to Vito “Bill” and Grace Locricchio. She graduated from Dominican High School in 1954, married Fred J. Impastato, and moved to Florida State University where their family began, eventually settling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A devoted mother of six, she was a founding member of Saint Thomas More Church, instrumental member of the choir, served as Eucharistic minister and on the bereavement committee. JoAnn gave hundreds of hours volunteering at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, participating in several bowling leagues and playing cards, especially Bridge. Known for her beautiful hats and devout Catholic faith, she left a vibrant legacy of love and community
Survived by her children: James, Phyllis, Peter, Grace and Mary Jo; her sister Sandra Madonia; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Vito "Bill" and Grace Locricchio; her beloved brothers Anthony, Matt and Leo; husband Dr. Fred J. Impastato and son Vito A. Impastato.
Visitation will be held at St. George Catholic Church from 9:30am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am conducted by Fr. Paul Yi and Deacon Pete Walsh. Internment will follow at Garden Mausoleum, St. George Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Carpenter House St. Joseph Hospice Foundation. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of The Carpenter House.
