

John C. Berlin, 53, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2013 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a native of Alexandria, La and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. John was a Mechanical Engineer with a B. S. degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a twenty plus year employee of Rubicon LLC / Huntsman where he was a Project Manager. John is survived by his brother, Alfred E. (Trey) Berlin lll and wife Tanna of Baton Rouge, LA, sister, Belva Berlin Dewey and husband, David of Baton Rouge, LA, nephews Alfred E. (Bubba) Berlin lV and wife Melanie of Asheville, NC, Michael L. Berlin and wife Anne of Asheville, NC, Brian D. Berlin and wife Mathilde of New Orleans, LA, Jake H. Dewey of Asheville, NC, and four great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred E. (Buster) Berlin Jr and his mother Mabel P. Berlin of Alexandria, LA. John was an Eagle Scout and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, pistol and rifle shooting and camping. His passions were duck hunting and watching the New Orleans Saints. He also cherished and enjoyed his many friendships made throughout his life. John fought cancer with much determination for almost two years. In September 2013 he was honored by being the keynote speaker at the 4th Annual Spine Tumor Patient Education Conference sponsored by and held at MD Anderson in Houston. John's speech gave hope and inspiration to others fighting cancer. The family would like to thank John's Rubicon family for their support and love of John over the years and during his illness and the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center who treated and cared from him. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5 "“ 8 PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home 825 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. James Episcopal Church 205 N. Fourth St, Baton Rouge, LA. Burial will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Pineville, LA. Pallbearers will be Alfred E. (Bubba) Berlin lV, Michael L. Berlin. Brian D. Berlin, Jake H.
