
A retired self-employed resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died of cancer at 1 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 73 and a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Sept. 23, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until service at 11:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Wayne Austin. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by two daughters, Bren Taylor and her husband, Bill, and Carolyn Lefebvre and her husband, Larry; two sons, Ricky Cashio and his wife, Sharon, and John M. Cashio Jr. and his wife, Sue; two sisters, Linda Macloud and Barbara Hinrichs; three brothers, B.J. Cashio, Noah Shelton and Buck Shelton; seven grandchildren, Jamie Tullier and husband Damien, Jodi Lemoine and husband Rod, Joy Cashio, Carla McKey and husband Brad, Erica Cashio, Matthew Cashio and Jordan Lefebvre; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Maggie Tullier. Preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Villar Cashio; father, Carlo Cashio; and mother, Angie Shelton. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Matthew Cashio and Jordan Lefebvre.
