

Doc moved to Baton Rouge in 1956 and began a lifelong career in construction. He honorably served his country in Germany with the US Army and returned home to marry his sweetheart, Josie, to whom he was married for 62 years. He was owner of Hearn Construction for 37 years during which time he built numerous buildings in Baton Rouge and the surrounding area and was voted Contractor of the Year. Doc enjoyed collecting and repairing antique clocks and woodworking, having made handcrafted jewelry boxes that are treasured by his children and granddaughters. He was a lifelong Methodist and man of strong faith, a charter member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and current member of Jefferson United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his sweet, kind, gentle, and loving spirit by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Josie Prestigiacomo; children, Cindy Decker (Dennis), John Brooks (Sonia), and Barbra West; grandchildren, Lindsay Faulk Terry (David), Jamie Faulk Mooney, and Evelyn West; great-grandchildren, Blaire Mooney, James Terry, and Charlotte Terry; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Brooksie and Blanche Gallaspy Hearn; and siblings, Wayland Hearn and Miriam Crump.
Private funeral services and burial to be conducted by Greenoaks Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Special thanks to Dr. Tamara Marryshow, caregiver, Tracy Riley, and Hospice of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity.
