Dr.Presti is the very first doctor I can remember. My mother worked with him in the 80’s at BR medical Center. At the ripe age of 3; I told him and the injection where they could shove it, and fought like my life depended on it. I gave him such a hard time but he always smiled and laughed when I was done. Through high school, college, marriage, and starting a family of my own he continued to be an amazing doctor with an old school style I appreciated. For over 30 years he cared me and he took good care of my grandfather when I would drag him up there. I’m so very sad to hear of Dr.Presti’s passing. He was truly one of a kind and they just don’t make doctors like him anymore. Sending many prayers to his family. ~fly high Dr.Presti, I hope you are finally resting now~

I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Prestigiacomo’s passing. I knew him for years  both as a practicing physical therapist who worked with his patients to being a friend and former patient. “Infectious smile and sharp wit” are perfect ways to describe him. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mark and I have known John since our LSU Tiger Band/Tau Beta Sigma/Kappa Kappa Psi days. Then, we so enjoyed playing in Baton Rouge Concert Band together.  It was so much fun when I would get to sit next to him in rehearsals.  Not only was he a wonderful musician, but he had such a great sense of humor! Throughout the years, we loved having conversations with John on so many different subjects, and he was passionate about many things, to say the least. I think what we’ll remember most, though, is his laughter. I know he was a truly compassionate man and caring physician. We are so lucky to have called him friend, and we miss him.

Dr. John,I’ve struggled to find the words & honestly don’t believe I’ll ever fully process the fact that you’re gone. I will carry your memory with me always. It was hard getting used to the idea of not working just down the hall from you anymore, but having to say goodbye in this life is still just unimaginable. They say you don’t realize just how much you’ll miss someone until they’re gone - I’ve spent the days since I heard of your passing flooded with thoughts and memories of all the good times shared.  I learned so much from you over the course of just a few short years and will treasure those lessons.  I’ll definitely miss our off the wall, spontaneous, rant/rave conversations the most; the articles that you’d come across and hold onto to discuss just for fun when you could carve out a minute in the day and just your pure passion for everyday life & helping those around you!  ‘You will be missed’ is an understatement—the world is a different place after having lost you.  I will always be thankful our paths crossed & that I had the chance to know you.  May you Rest In Peace doc. Dr. P. was man of challenges in that he sought them out. I will truly miss him not that I know that I will not see him on this side of eternal. I, to enjoyed the music and was planning to make it a yearly event which I will still do just to celebrate him

Dr P was my Doctor for 14 years. He was a very good Dr.  I will miss him very much.

To the Family of Dr. John:I had the pleasure of working with him since 2008 at NHDP.  Dr. John was very detailed and loved a challenge.  He would spend hours researching details which could enhance his patient's clinical or life experience. He served as  the primary care provider for many team members who worked at NHDP.  To work beside someone, then chose as your own,  is one of the greatest tributes a healthcare professional could for .  This action represents the highest level of trust and respect.I, along with many from NHDP were  fortunate to Dr. John perform on December 23rd at L'auberge Casino with the Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble.  It was an enjoyable experience that we will treasure for the rest of our lives.  I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Dr. John was very good to his patients at NHDP.  He helped many patients in his years there.  They will be very sad to hear of his passing.  He will be missed by all.

No amount of words, gestures or gratitude would even show an ounce of what this man has done for my elders and I. He showed care in a way that I wasn't exposed to until we met about 10 years back. I remember the first time we took my uncle to see him, I immediately started to tell him about all of the issues he had been having and Dr. John replied, "Will you be with him for every appt, because if you are not, then he needs to tell me himself." And I was so blown away by that comment since no doctor ever cared to make a direct connection with him. There were even a few times he forgot to charge us for the visit until we reminded him. Throughout the years, we all became very close; he would take time from his personal life to check in on any of us if we were at the hospital, always took calls no matter when and each regular office visit was at least an hour long. After each family member would see him, he would call me after 5:30pm, once he was done seeing his patients, and speak to me for hours to regroup. Hence we chatted monthly for countless hours over the past 10 years. There were even times we would be on his computer googling new methods that I heard about and we would discuss the good, bad, the unknown and sometimes we just chatted about life. Dr. John F. Prestigiacomo embodied the true definition of selflessness, " a person that is concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than with one's own." He was humble, funny, and compassionate. He has given my family so many years of living on Earth and has taught my siblings and I invaluable lessons along the way. You have made your mark on this world and were an amazing doctor, none like no other. I know for a fact that you were our earth angel. I am truly going to miss you......take care and I know you are an angel in Heaven. Sending Love.

My condolences to the family.where do I begin?  I’m just in shock.  Dr. P was my family’s dr for over 25 years. He has helped us more than words can say. He really listened to his patients and helped any way he possibly could. I can’t even begin to explain all he has done for my family. He literally helped my Mom live another year by finding her a new oncologist, he kept my son from being paralyzed, saved me when I had kidney stones, saved My husbund when he had a  gallbladder attack. He has been there for so long.  Never too busy to answer a phone call and listen to your problem or ailment. Always checking in afterwards. We have gotten visits in hospitals he doesn’t normally go to, because he just wanted to check on us. He sat with me and talked and told stories every night when my mom was dying in the hospital. Like he had no where else to be. He loved the sax and gave my daughter tapes and encouraged her when she was starting to play. We loved to see him perform with the BR jazz ensemble. He was great! He is still my dr and I just saw him last month. So glad we had a long visit and caught up. We looked at pictures, talked politics, medicine and travel. My husband even called to check on me because I was gone so long. I am in total shock and in tears. The world and the medical field lost a wonderful, smart, compassionate,  caring man. They just don’t make them like that anymore.  Rest In Peace. We love and miss you. 🙏🙏🙏

I have had the great pleasure of working with and for Dr. Prestigiacomo for nearly 10 years. Many of his patients called him such names as Dr. P, Dr. John, Dr. Pres and simply Doc. I personally called him Doc quite often myself. Dr. Prestigiacomo had a love for his profession. I recently asked if he ever thought to retire and he looked at me and said, "I went to school to be a doctor. I am in the business of healing people and it is my passion to heal sick people. It's what I do and will continue doing until I hit the floor." He was true to his word and it was tough calling each of his patients to let them know of his passing. Upon doing so, I learned much more about Doc through his patients' experiences. My own raw emotions of pain and hurt from his passing, turned to one of joy at hearing their stories. From saving a husband's life, to him sending flowers to a coworker just to cheer them during a rough time. He has been known to make house calls, met people at the office on weekends and after hours. He was there when he was needed for his patients. With each patient's experience, I heard the words love, compassionate, kind, caring and "family". That is how they described him. He was family to them and I know he felt the same about each one of them. I am humbled to have known him and have worked with him side by side each day. He was not only a doctor, but a teacher, a student, a consultant, an advisor and a mentor. He enjoyed music, especially band and jazz music and could sometimes hear him drumming the desk in his office while doing paperwork at his desk. When patients came for their appointments, they did not come just for a medical visit...they came for a social visit as well. He got to know each of his patients on a personal level and enjoyed talking to them on many different subjects. He was a magnet for knowledge and was always researching new things unknown. He gave of himself, knowing fully that he put himself at risk, so that he might help others and with the help of Father above, he healed many people. Outside the realm of being a doctor, he was quite the handyman. He was carpenter, plumber, mechanic, tree trimmer and so many other things. He didn't profess to be the best at all things, but he was always willing to do his best. In my observance, he was frugal by choice, but he was rich in so many other ways. It wasn't about the material things of the world that made him happiest, it was the family of people that came into his life that made him whole. Rosena, both my husband, Billy, and I send our heartfelt condolences to you and your family for the loss of your beloved brother. We both pray for God to give you strength and embrace you with comfort and peace. You meant so very much to him and he always wanted to be your protector. He is sure to be your guardian angel and continue his vigil. I know you shall miss him dearly. ---To Doc, Billy and I have both grown to love you and we thank God for the gift of you and the time we spent together. You have touched both of our lives and you are already missed by us both. Heaven gained a most amazing and special angel. Save a place up there, so that we can all continue our conversations. I honestly do not know what to say or where to start. I've known P for 35 years, most of which he was my and my family's physician. Been my big brother, great friend, FAMILY member pretty much the whole time. NO, no pretty much about it. There is such a huge hole in my family today. I just can't believe this filthy disease got him. Just cannot wrap my brain around it.  This man did so much for so many people, regardless of demographics, race, creed, disability, ability to pay. He loved all of his patients. Deeply and he would cancel anything important in his life to be there for his charges. He was truly the last of a dying breed of physicians. Probably the last one. I miss him and his phone calls and everything about him so dearly. RIP, my good friend. We will meet again.

We are really sorry, for the loss of Doctor P. He contributed to society and helped a lot of people through his profession. He great person and doctor. May God have him in his glory.

I worked with Dr. John since 2008, at NHDP.  He was a pleasure to work with, dedicated to his patients and their well being.  He dedicated his time , care and knowledge to Hansen Disease. He was so interested in his patients, their well being, and educated there families on there condition..He loved his music, his interests in photography and his yearly trip to Florida!! He always returned with great photos!!!Rest on my dear friend, til we meet again!!!

It is impossible to adequately express the highest honor and respect that Dr. Pres deserves.  He was our doctor for 25 years.  We have never met a more dedicated, caring and compassionate doctor.  His devotion to his patients never stopped when you walked out his office, he made follow-up calls to assure you were ok.  He never failed to make himself available to his patients, after hours, weekends and even making house calls to patients.  His desire to help his patients was always top priority.  We often had conversations about heaven and what it would be like. Today Dr. Pres is experiencing the beauty and joy of heaven.  He no longer has pain, sorrow or tears.  I'm sure Our LORD welcomed him home with a loving embrace saying "Well done my good and faithful servant." He is enjoying the best family reunion ever.  Thank you for being the best doctor God gave us. You will be missed forever.  Deepest prayers to the Prestigiacomo family.

John was a wonderful doctor and wonderful man. He was so good at taking care our family. He was amazing to us, how much he cared for our family and came to our house everyday to check on my wife when she was critically ill. He is a hero not just for us but to many others we know who are still alive today because the his abilities to diagnose series illness and help with treatment. He has touched many lives. What a saint. We miss him, but know he is in better place.

Doctor Prestigiacomo, but we call Dr P  was a great doctor, he was a good friend, and a wonderful  person. I thank God for putting him in our lives for the last 20 years. We are forever great-full to our favorite Doc John. He was such a blessing to our family. He has been our doc for 35 years . He watched our boys grow up through our visits to him . After our boys grew up Doc John was still there doctor. He would meet you Day are night for what ever you needed. He would talk to you on phone and when we went in to his office , he always had time to catch up with you. He loved talking politics to you. He was so gentle and kid to us.  We would get Christmas cards from him. He took time for his patients and just wouldn’t rush you through. The world has lost one of the most precious doctors as there ever was. We are deeply saddened by the passing of our wonderful Dr P. He was truly a doctor who cared for the well being of his patients. Dr. P. always made himself available anytime of the day or night. When all other doctors gave up on my dad two years ago, Dr P did not. He stood by our side until my dad pulled through. We are forever grateful for the last two years. We lost my sweet dad three weeks ago and now Dr.  P. We are devastated. Rest In Peace. Love and miss you.

We are extremely saddened by the passing  of Dr. Prestigiacomo. He was a doctor who really cared for us, his patients, and went the extra mile to assist us, seeing us in after-hours visits and calling us on the phone for follow ups. Our journey with Dr.John started almost a decade ago. My uncle’s health had been on a rapid decline through the years and we were in  a desperate search to find a general practitioner. After some research we stumbled into Dr.John’s office. There we found someone who not only became our uncle’s doctor, but also our family’s doctor and our close friend.I want it be known that Dr.John was not only the greatest doctor in Louisiana,  but quite arguably one of the best doctors in the world and he proved that each and every day. He advocated for his patients at every possible corner and was ALWAYS available. There are countless of stories that I can give of Dr.John breaking the mold of what was expected of a typical doctor. Whether demanding I put him on speaker after an emergency ride to speak with the admitting physicians, or showing up within less then an hour to the hospital my uncle was at, or even canceling events in his personal life, Dr.John made it a point to always show up for his patients, in every capacity.  I will personally miss his more than hour long talks in his office and his humor, but I’m comforted knowing he’s amongst angels and I am eternally grateful that our paths got to cross for as long as it did. I know that it is because of him that not only was uncle granted more years with us, but countless of other families were also blessed  with more time. It is my deepest regret that I can’t return the favor. Our entire family will miss him dearly and we extend our condolences to his entire family.  Rest In Peace Dr.John, we love and miss you dearly.

Dr. Prestigiacomo will be sorely missed. We interacted with him frequently, and experienced his generosity and willingness to help the less fortunate setting aside any self interest. We also shared his love for music, and enjoyed his art many times. With his compassion, he made the lives of many people better. We have you in our heart and prayers.
