
A retired professor emeritus of food science and technology at LSU and faculty adviser to the LSU athletic department, he died at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007. He was a devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a medic during World War II and while stationed in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38, serving as the commissioner of baseball and chaplain. He was also an officer of the Kiwanis Service Organization. Born Dec. 16, 1926, in Tampa, Fla., he was a resident of Baton Rouge since 1958. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., was on Monday, Oct. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 9:30 a.m. until religious service at 11:30 a.m., conducted by Eddie White, pastor, the American Legion and members of the family. Burial with full military honors in Port Hudson National Cemetery. He is survived by a son, Paul Arthur Liuzzo, of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Patricia Joyce Liuzzo McCreanor and husband Mick McCreanor, of Stratford, Conn., and Jolaine Liuzzo Foster and husband Daniel Foster, of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Joseph Aaron Liuzzo and wife Allison Moore Liuzzo, Alexandra Elise Foster and Christopher Cody McCreanor; a great-grandson, Ethan Joseph Liuzzo; sister, Rose Gilleon and husband Gil Gilleon, of Tampa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Elaine Grammer Liuzzo; and mother and father, Annie Minardi Liuzzo and Joseph Liuzzo, who were of Bologna, Sicily.
