

Joseph Sam Serio, Jr., a beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on Monday, December 25, 2017, at the age of 95. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, and a long-time resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Joseph was a WWII veteran serving in the Air Force in the Pacific Theater and Japan. He received a Bachelor’s of Science from LSU and his pharmacy degree at Loyola of New Orleans. He was a pharmacist who retired from Walgreens and Our Lady of the Lake Hospital after decades of services combined. Joseph is survived by his wife, Christine Serio; daughters, Marianne Denker and husband, Gordon, Joette Kenaley and husband, Jack, Pam Harris, Liz Guillory and Charlotte Brandt and husband, Mike; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; niece and nephew, Leslie and Jack LeBaron; and numerous other family members. Joseph is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Gannon Serio; parents, Joseph and Leslie Serio, Sr.; sister, Pauline LeBaron; aunt and uncle, T.J. and Annie Bellanger. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caretakers and the staff of Hospice in His Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s name to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 9:00AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM.
