
Josephine Jones Fortune, a Loving Mother and Grandmother entered into her Eternal Rest on June 1, 2016. Josephine was born on August 19, 1940 to Purity and Evelyn T. Jones. She was a native and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Josephine attended Southern University Lab School and Southern University. She received her B.S. and M.ED from Southern University. She was an Educator and Counselor for many years at Southern University and Retired as a Tenured Professor in 2010. Josephine was married to Emile V. Fortune, who predeceased her. Josephine accepted Christ at an early age and later was ordained as a Minister. She was an active Minister at Westgate Church in Port Allen, Louisiana, where she continued to serve until entering into her rest. Memories of Josephine will be forever cherished by her son, Romelle E. Fortune, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, her daughter, LaGretta F. Lazard (John), Zachary, Louisiana. Three sisters: Mildred Spurlock, Delores Carter (Joe), all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Mary Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada. Two brothers: Purity Jones, Sr. (Lottie) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and William Jones (Barbara) of Allen, Texas, Sister-in Law, Rita Jones, of Zachary, Louisiana and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Visitation at Bethany Church located at 13855 Plank Road, Baker, Louisiana 70714 on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. until service at 11:00A.M. and will be conducted by Pastor Al Moore, Westgate Church. Interment at Southern Memorial Gardens.
