On September 1, 2021, while surrounded by those he loved, the world lost the extraordinary Joshua “JJ” Charles Johnson, age 44, due to complications from Covid. Born on July 27, 1977, JJ was a loving husband and best friend of 14 years to Danielle Crosby Johnson. Regardless of relation by blood, he was a devoted father to Hayley Johnson, Madelynn Johnson, Jena Johnson, Ashtyn Butler, Alexis Butler, and Carter Butler, as well as grandfather to Renleigh Daigle. In addition to his wife and children, JJ is survived by his mother, Belinda Johnson (George); father-in-law, Danny Crosby; mother-in-law, Vicki Crosby; siblings Jessica Bailey (Brian), Travis Johnson, Blake Johnson (Ashley), and Cole Cupit. He is preceded in death by his father, David Johnson; and grandparents, Dr. Charles Johnson, Patricia Johnson, Eugene Loar, Sr., and Jean Loar. JJ was an avid LSU fan and active member of Unsupervised Tailgating, as well as the founder of Red Stick Cornhole. He was known to many as the life of the party, and as such was often bestowed with fun-loving nicknames, including “Big Floppa” and “Phat Jeezus.” When at home, he could often be found alongside his beloved dog, Rafa. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 4pm to 7pm. Visitation will resume on Friday, September 10, from 8am to 11am, with funeral services to follow in the chapel. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Ochsner Medical Center for their unwavering support and compassion. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.greenoaksfunerals.com
