Joyce Smith Conway

Joyce Smith Conway, age 90, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2014. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Joyce will be missed dearly by her husband of 68 years Robert "Bob" Conway, Children Grant Conway (Ann), Keith Conway, Louise Conway Jeter and Page Conway Silvia (Bill). Four grandchildren, Jill Jeter Harris (Hayes) Amy Jeter Gonzales (Chris) Michael Thompson, and Clayton Thompson. Great- grandchildren Isabella and Christopher Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her parents Clebert and Alba Smith, sister Gloria Beam and son - in - law James " Bubba" Jeter. She was a life long resident of Baton Rouge, a graduate of St Joseph Academy and received a Bachelors degree in Home Economics fromhttp://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/lsu/?personid=172677986&affiliateID=1382" id="InlineMicrositeLink_LSU" target="_blank" title="Visit LSU Memorial Site to see similar profiles">Louisiana State University. Joyce was actively involved as a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, especially the Bereavement committee, The Baton Rouge Art League, Passe Bon Temps, La Lecture Book Club, Delta Zeta Alumnae, and Volunteers of America Auxiliary. She enjoyed meeting her Thursday Lunch Group friends on a weekly basis as well. Her hobbies included many years of playing tennis at Bocage Racquet Club, gardening, cooking, reading and entertaining. Visiting will be held on Monday October 6 at Our Lady Of Mercy Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM with Mass of Christian burial beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will at Green Oaks Cemetery.
