

Julie Levert, 87, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on June 13, 2022.
Julie was born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 11, 1934, to Lou Katherine Holmes Stearns and Ralph Waldo Stearns, whom she is preceded in death.
She graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1952 and then attended college at LSU where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Social Sorority and graduated in education. Julie gained her masters degree and went on to teach math for over 35 years in Louisiana.
She was a devoted LSU alumni, sports fan, a founding member of Bengal Belles and received the Alumni Chapter Service Award in 1998. The LSU baseball dugout was built in her name and dedicated to her love of the sport and the team.
She loved to travel and was passionate about history and reading and was always up for a conversation on historical events and people. She imparted wisdom and passion on everyone who she loved and loved her.
Julie will be forever loved and missed by those who survive her, her three children, Katherine Levert Stanzel (Kay); Elizabeth Levert Champagne (Beth) and husband Greg; Charles Firmin Levert III (Chuck) and Amy; and their children Dana Katherine Stanzel Aydlett and husband Stanton; Christopher Charles Stanzel and wife Ashley; Andrew Lee Lawton and fiance Sophie; Charles Firmin Levert IV; Grace Julia Levert; Russell Bernard Champagne and Lance Gregory Champagne; great-granddaughter Ellie Mae Stanzel; sister Martha Stearns Jordan and husband Jerre; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be modest with close family and friends later this summer to celebrate her life and heavenly birthday on August 11.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the LSU Rural Life Museum in her name.
