
Julius LeBlanc, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Saturday. Oct. 23, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Julius is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathleen Gooch LeBlanc, and three children, Julie LeBlanc Bowden and husband Steve, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Edwin J. LeBlanc and wife Cindy, of Baton Rouge, and Kathy LeBlanc Grand and husband Barry, of Auburn, Ala. Julius was proud of his seven grandchildren, Wesley and Tyler Bowden, Travis and Kyle LeBlanc, and James, William and Lacy Grand. He had two special caregivers, Gail and Temika Burks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma Helmke LeBlanc and Julius A. LeBlanc Sr.; and sisters, Hazel Uter and Jewel LeBlanc. Julius was born in Baton Rouge on Aug. 9, 1924, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. A native of Baton Rouge, he attended St. Joseph's Academy, and graduated from Catholic High School in 1941, and from LSU in 1944. He played in the band at CHS and the band and orchestra at LSU. After working for Ethyl Corp. for 45 years, he retired in 1989. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 969. Visitation at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. until funeral Mass at 10:15 a.m. Burial will take place shortly afterward at Roselawn Cemetery. Julius' grandsons will serve as his pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Catholic High School or St. Joseph's Academy.
