

Soileau, Katherine (Kat) Elizabeth Buriege, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 4:25 p.m. at the St. Joseph’s Carpenter House after fighting a gallant battle against Sjogren syndrome for fifteen years. Kat was an excellent cook enjoying cooking for extended family and friends. She was 74, native of Maringouin, living in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 plus years; Robert (Bob) Soileau; children, Jacqueline (Jackie) Rembert, and Kat’s favorite son-in-law, Troy Rembert of Central, LA, Robert Soileau, Jr and his wife, Kristin (California), Chad Soileau and his wife, Lucy (Denham Springs); six grandchildren, Garet Rembert, Cheree’ Rembert Case, Katie Soileau, Kimberly Soileau, Chris Soileau, and Grant Rembert; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Amelia, and Carter Rembert, and Thomas and Lillian Case; sisters, Genevieve Cavalier, Edna Prochaska; and one brother, Louis Buriege and his wife, Ann. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Marie Buriege; three brothers and four sisters, Sam, Benny, and Phillip Buriege, and Patty Vaccaro, Tina Nicosia, Rosalie Caruso, and Angelina Buriege. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flood restoration at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Greenwell Springs, visitation will continue at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, North Sherwood Forest Blvd., on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Rob Soileau, Troy Rembert, Chad Soileau, Garet Rembert, Chris Soileau, and Grant Rembert. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Buriege, Richard Soileau, and Michael Cashio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sister Dulce Foundation, 17560 George Oneal Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70817.
