
Kathleen Patricia Ward Stuckey died on Sunday, April 17, at the age of 69 from complications due to ALS. She went peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in her home in Baton Rouge. Kathy is preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary Early Ward of New Orleans. She is survived by her devoted husband Tom and her children Kara Stuckey Doherty and her husband Allen, Aimee Stuckey Kilchrist and her husband Jason, and Thomas Stuckey, III and his wife Rebecca. She also leaves her father, Kenneth Ward, her brother Kenneth Jr. and his wife Connie, her sister Susan, her sister-in-law Martha Stuckey Kelly, and her grandchildren: Katie, Connor, Hannah, Isabel, Lucy, Amelie, and Caroline, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was born on September 11, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the second child born to Kenneth and Rosemary Ward. She attended Ursuline Academy and graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans with a degree in medical technology. She married Thomas C. Stuckey, Jr., her high school sweetheart, on June 15, 1968. Over the following seven years they welcomed three children and then moved to Baton Rouge in 1980 for Tom to attend veterinary school at LSU. Kathy worked in the Veterinary Science department at LSU until 1986, when she left to run the office at the Garden District Animal Hospital that Tom founded after vet school. She continued as the manager of the clinic until their retirement in 2011. Kathy was an impassioned mother, grandmother, and wife. Nothing gave her more satisfaction than giving to her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and spending time with friends, but she always put family above all else. She was also an active member of the LSU Campus Club. The visitation will be held from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, at St. Aloysius Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., Baton Rouge, with the funeral immediately to follow at noon.
