Kathryn “Kat” Galloway peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by loved ones at her home on April 19, 2022. She was born on December 28, 1934, to Harvey and Essie Crain of Varnado, LA. Kat had a special gift of seeing the beauty in everyone she touched. Her passion started at the Wanda Womack Salon, where she became the head stylist for 20 years. Later in life, Kat pursued her same passion at Estee Lauder and became a million dollar sales consultant known as a Pacesetter until she retired in 2015. Kat was happiest when she was with her family and friends, on the water boating, fishing, and swimming, or just cuddling with her precious dogs. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling and had visited most of the US states, including Hawaii, as well as Mexico and Canada. She played piano, sang, and loved to dance, as she was the “Jitterbug Queen.” Kat also had a deep love for sports and even in high school at only 4 feet and 11 inches tall she ruled the basketball court. And she was certainly LSU’s number one fan. She was a longstanding member of Temple Baptist Church and later in life became a member of Brownsville Baptist. Kat is survived by her daughter, Rosie Dodson (Malcolm Spell) of Baton Rouge; life companion, Cecil Miller; three grandchildren, Stephen Dodson (Kristen), Bobby Ray Harris III, and Tina Harris Rodriguez (Edwin); and seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Ellis and Essie Mckenzie Crain; sister, Linnie Rae Seal; and her beloved son, Bobby Ray Harris II. A visitation for Kat will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East (11000 Florida Blvd) on April 30, at 9 am until service at 11, conducted by Timothy Spell of Life Tabernacle Church. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa, LA, at 2:30. Special thanks to Kat’s caregiver, Melinda Desoto, and the nurses at Hospice in His Care, especially Jasmine.
