

Born Nov. 19, 1954, he died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, after a lengthy battle with lymphoma. He was a native and lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. He is survived by Claudia Decker, his wife of 30 years; sons, Joseph and Andre Triche; daughter, Gillian Triche and partner Julia Snedigar; parents, Harry and Laura Madere Triche; and brothers, Eric and wife Jeanne Triche, Owen and wife Sharon Triche, and Michael Triche. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Prentiss and Viola Madere, who were of LaPlace; and paternal grandparents, Albert and Grace Kittrell Triche, who were of LaPlace. Kerry graduated from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1980 and immediately joined the central research staff of the Louisiana State Law Institute, serving as the coordinator of research since 2000. He was a familiar presence in the State Capitol for many years, lending his expertise before legislative committees on many issues. He was a member of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws and the author of the Handbook on Louisiana Family Law and the co-author of the Handbook on Louisiana Evidence Law and the Louisiana Children's Code Handbook. Kerry was a loyal fan of LSU sports and a tailgater extraordinaire. He and his best friend, Kurt, are reunited to watch LSU and Alabama from a better place. An Expression of Commendation from the State of Louisiana House of Representatives dated Sept. 26, 2011, describes Kerry as a man of uncommon strength and dignity who had the love and respect of all who knew him and all whose lives he touched, and who "merits the highest commendation for the indelible mark he has left on the state of Louisiana and countless citizens as one of the finest, most respected, most admired, and most beloved legal minds and citizens in the history of the state of Louisiana." Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. until funeral service in the chapel at noon.
