

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Lynnwood Hawthorne and Mary Magdalene Hawthorne; and his brother William (Bill) L. Hawthorne.
He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Bonnie Hardin Hawthorne; his children, Rhett Walton Hawthorne and Kyle William Hawthorne; daughter-in-law Ashley Sullivan Hawthorne and grandchildren Sullivan William Hawthorne and Betsy Louise Hawthorne.
A graduate of University High School in Baton Rouge, Kester attended LSU before enrolling in and graduating from veterinary school at Oklahoma State University. Kester went on to serve the greater Baton Rouge area for over 40 years as a veterinarian. Known for his sharp wit and sense of humor, Kester was loved by all who knew him both professionally and personally. He loved spending time with his family especially at the family camp at False River.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The Hawthorne family would like to offer a sincere thanks to Dr. Vince Cataldo and the entire staff at Our Lady of the Lake Physician’s Group for the extraordinary care he received.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 10am to 12pm. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Greenoaks at 12pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
