

"Kirk Meredith Mosely passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Kirk was born in Houston, Texas, on March 24, 1977, and lived most of his life in Baton Rouge. He attended University High School and graduated from Phelps Academy in Malvern, Pennsylvania. He attended Shreiner University in Kerrville, Texas; Southeastern Louisiana University, and Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. He lived several years in the Boston area before moving to North Carolina. Kirk had a great sense of humor, a brilliant mind, an extraordinary memory and a loving spirit. He loved his family and all who knew him realized that he was a person of unusual integrity. He was a research specialist with an exceptional gift for writing and speaking. He loved music, loved the sport of tennis and recently introduced his nephew to the game. One of his favorite pleasures was carefully choosing and giving gifts to friends and family. Kirk lived life passionately and will be greatly missed. Kirk is survived by his beloved girlfriend Abigail McCartney of Chapel Hill; his mother, Rita Katherine "Kay" Long of Baton Rouge and her longtime companion, Florent "Pon" Hardy, Jr.; his father, Dean Meredith Mosely and wife Rita Tyler Mosely of Jena; his sister, Katherine Mosely Smith and husband State Senator Gary L. Smith, Jr. of Montz; his brother Russell Long Mosely and wife Erin Saporito Mosely of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by his nephews Jack Merrigan Mosely, Charles Long Mosely and Henry Wilson Smith; his niece, Anna-Pierce Katherine Smith, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his good friend Erin Cornick. He was preceded in death by his grandparents United State Senator Russell Billiu Long, Katherine Hattic Long, Dr. Charles Hodge Mosely, Jr. and Florence Mosely Williams. Pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Jr., Jeremy Snider, Bryan Wright, Jonathan Wright, Brian Waldrep, and Glenn Picou. Visitation and reception will be held on Saturday, September 23rd from 10 o'clock am until services at noon at First United Methodist Church located at 930 North Boulevard. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorials preferred in Kirk's memory to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital, Post Office Box 84357 Baton Rouge, LA 70884, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or a charity of your choice.
