Larry Dean Helmke

Larry Helmke, age 79, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, after a full and well-lived life. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Berta Elmaria Helmke; his son, Lawrence Joseph Helmke; his daughter, Leia Helmke Brown and her husband Joshua Nelson Brown; his daughter-in-law, Kimberley Hooge Helmke; his Children of the Heart: Stephanie Dicks, Kristina C L Hayes, and Jeremy Cutrer; and his Brother of the Heart, Clark “CJ” Hughes, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kacie Louise Meyers, Ashlee Meyers Alphonso and husband William Alphonso, Madalyn Grace Helmke, Landry Clark Helmke, and David Stephan Meyers; his Granddaughter of the Heart, Rayne Wiley; his great-granddaughter, Alara Elyse Bourgeois; his fur babies, Precious and Snoopy; as well as many loved ones. Larry is preceded in death by his son, Loren Dean Helmke; his parents, Laurence Steffan Helmke and Kathryn Louise Helmke; his grandparents, Count Naiper Gallino and Allie Mae Gallino; and numerous fur babies. Larry touched the lives of many, and his legacy will live on through his loving family and friends. Larry was a proud veteran of the Unites States Navy. He was a professional salesman and “jack-of-all-trades”, an avid reader, and fisherman. A service in his memory will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 25367 Riverton Ave, Denham Springs, Louisiana.
