

Ms. Lena Messina Langlois, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on April 25, 2022 at the age of 90. She was an avid square and ballroom dancer, Lena danced with Crose Trail Singles, Grand Square and Castoffs square dance clubs. She regularly attended BREC senior dances and belonged to Les Danseurs Round Dance Club. Her square and round dancing took her to almost every state in the nation.
Ms. Lena retired from Ethyl Corporation with 40 years of services. She was a faithful parishioner and lector at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church. Every year she sought spiritual renewal by attending a silent retreat in Grand Coteau. She also served lunch at St. Vincent DePaul dining room some 20 plus years.
She is survived by daughters, Sevie (Jack) Datz, and Lauren (Donnie) Jones; son, Joseph R. Langlois III; seven grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren and one great, great-grandson; son-in-law Mark Carboni Sr. and numerous other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Langlois, Jr; daughter, Lana Kay Carboni; parents, Tony and Grace Messina; brothers, Joseph and Anthony Messina; sister-in-law, Naomi Messina; grandparents, Joseph and Mary Ann Messina and Tony and Annie Bellina.
Lena would want you to honor her memory by being a better friend, smile and say something nice each day to someone you don’t know and don’t forget to tell your loved ones, you love them. The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregiver, Alicia Bolden for her care and support.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will resume at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, Friday, April 29, 2022 from 11:00am until Mass of Christian Burial time of 1:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
