
A native of Bogalusa and resident of Baton Rouge, he died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Ochsner Medical Center of Baton Rouge at the age of 63. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Louis Boyd of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. Survived by his wife, Pamela Boudreau King; children, Deborah King Bond and husband Joe, Marie King Featherston and husband Chuck, Paul David King and wife Lisa and Michael Sanders King and wife Angela; grandchildren, J.P., Jared and Justin Bond, Rachel and Ryan Featherston, Josh McKean, Victoria and Tyler King and Nicole Leglue; sister, Sandra Gurney and husband Kenneth of McKinney, Texas; brother, Stanley Wayne King and wife Bettye of Picayune, Miss.; and special niece, Dianne Vollenweider and husband Eddie and their children, Emily and Eric of LaPlace. Preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Edwina Pennington King. He was retired from Louisiana Department of Labor and also worked at CompuCure after his retirement. He was one of the founding members of East Side Volunteer Fire Department and "Pawpaw" to the members of the Denham Springs Yellow Jackets Baseball team and the members of the HRP Competitive Baseball team. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and followed them at every opportunity. He loved his family and loved traveling. The greatest joy of his life was helping others. He was always interested in the latest technology and loved the gadgets. He was very adept at fixing things and his grandchildren always said, "Pawpaw can fix it" when anything broke. He reveled in being able to delight them when he repaired something. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons and nephews.
