A native of New Orleans and recent resident of Baton Rouge, Letty passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and practiced as a registered nurse for more than 40 years. Her compassionate care extended beyond the work place to family and friends. All who knew her loved her. Her life was exemplified by kindness, fairness, a deep love of family and an abiding faith in God. A devoted sports fan, she avidly followed many teams but most enjoyed watching her nephews play ball. Her most treasured memory was a trip to New York with her sisters to watch her beloved Yankees. She is survived by sisters, Joan Ward Black and Mary Ward Gros and husband Donald. She is also survived by her cherished friend, Rita Finn, who loved and cared for her as a sister would; nephews, David and wife Rosalyn Moreau, Daryl and wife Jill Moreau, Douglas Moreau, Ward and wife Anita Gros, John Gros and fiancée Becky Brady, and Andrew and wife Alison Gros; niece, Donna Marie Quigley; and her "younger angels," Adam and Hannah Moreau, Jennifer, Joseph, and Jacob Quigley, Paul and Camille Gros, Rachel and Emily Gros, who shared a very special bond with Nan; and lifelong friends, Katherine Kennedy and Margaret Neveaux. Letty also had one other special companion at her side, her precious mutt, Mickey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Edna Ward. Visitation at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Tom Duhé.
