Lillian Stelly Cortez

Lillian Stelly Cortez, 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. She was a housewife and extremely talented seamstress. She was born on September 12, 1923 in Rayne, La. Lillian is survived by three daughters, Jean Ann Parker (Peyton), Donna Hennington (David), Gayle Jordan (Dave); six grandchildren, Kim Tugwell (John), Kathy Breaux (Dusty), Kahne Girouard (Kirk), Jayne Poli (Darin), Jennifer Elliott Welch (Jack), Julie Green (Kimball); ten great grandchildren, Rachel Hanninen (Poli), Jacqueline Gammon (Jonathan), Bethany Poli, Brant Babin, Logan Breaux, Lexie, Benjamin and Preston Girouard, Kate Welch, Petra Green; two great great grandchildren, Emily Grace Hanninen and Archer Gammon; and one sister, Dot Beeson.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Rodney Cortez; mother, Effie Meaux; father, Delpha Stelly; three sisters, Lula Bounds, Burnella Venable, and Louetta Dommert. Special thanks to the staff of In His Care Hospice and the entire staff at Colonial Care Nursing Home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. until Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home.
