
A resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Sunday, Feb. 10, was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Monday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Coleman Jr.; and her parents, Lillian Landry Mayer and Carroll S. Mayer. She is survived by two sons, Robert M. Coleman III and his wife, Susan P. Coleman, and Clayton A. Coleman and his wife, Sharon U. Coleman, all of Baton Rouge; and a daughter, Lillee Coleman Clark and her husband, Gregory M. Clark, of Gainesville, Ga. Also survived by a brother, Carroll S. Mayer Jr. and his wife, Berta Laycock Mayer, of Baton Rouge. She had six grandchildren, C. Parker Coleman, Camille M. Coleman, Landry C. Coleman and Zachary C. Coleman, all of Baton Rouge, and Robert G. Clark and Nolan M. Clark, both of Gainesville. She graduated cum laude from the College of Commerce at LSU, where she was a president of her sorority, Chi Omega. She was also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Mu Sigma Rho and Phi Kappa Phi honorary societies. She was employed by Mayer, Knox, Amiss Insurance Agency and City National Bank before marrying in 1949. She was active in several civic, service and social organizations, including Junior League of Baton Rouge, where she served on the board of directors, and the Baton Rouge Historical Foundation. She was president of Chi Omega Alumni Association and the Reviewer's Book Club, served on the widow roster of the Baton Rouge Assembly, and was a member of the Baton Rouge Country Club, a past member of City Club and Bocage Racquet Club and a member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Robert M. Coleman III, Clayton A. Coleman, C. Parker Coleman, Landry C. Coleman, Robert G. Clark and Zachary C. Coleman. Honorary pallbearers are Carroll S. Mayer, Robert Warren, Winnie Byrd, A.K. McInnis and Mary Miles Walker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
