

"Lois Jean Bardwell Currie, 89, passed away at 4pm on Monday December 12, 2016 at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice. She was a native of Pineville, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. A graduate of Louisiana College, she was a much loved elementary school teacher for 27 years, retiring from Villa del Rey elementary. She was a former member of Gamma chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa teacher's sorority and John James Audubon Chapter of DAR, a Sunday school teacher, square dancer, a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and First United Methodist Church. She loved to travel; 49 states and a number of foreign countries. She made many new friends at Sunrise and loved her bingo group. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always had a kind word. Survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Currie, her daughters Elizabeth Currie and Susan Currie Nichols, and grandchildren Ben, Kelli and Jenni Nichols. Preceded in death by her parents Alton and Sarah Bardwell. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge on Monday, Dec 19, 2016 at 9am until religious service at 10am conducted by Dr. Leonard Ezell and Rev. Paul Henderson. Graveside services at 2:30pm at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, LA conducted by Rev. Brad Franklin.
