Lou Harris

Much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Lou Kimble Harris passed away on July 20th, 2022, surrounded by her children. Born on March 20th, 1932 in Torras, Louisiana, she was one of nine children of Benjamin Franklin Kimble and Lillian May Jackson Kimble. Lou adored her family and being sister to Fred, Ben, Esther, Dollie, Norma, Marion, Terrell and Mona Gail.

Lou graduated from Innis High School and had a lifelong love for and fond memories of growing up in and around the Three Rivers area. Later while living and working in Shreveport, Lou’s friend Kitty, introduced Lou to her big brother, AJ. This introduction proved to be hugely valuable as AJ was soon to become the love of her life.

Lou worked for years as a bank teller and bank officer for what was then the Louisiana National Bank. She loved fishing with AJ on a regular basis. She was hugely generous, a great cook and host and was always enthusiastic about spending time with family and arranging numerous get-togethers with wider relations.

A loving mother, Lou always strived to make sure that her children were taught the love of Jesus Christ. She too loved the Lord and found joy in studying the Bible with her friends in her Sunday School class.

A much loved and loving woman, Lou leaves behind three children, Susan Harris Belgard (John), Lou Anne Harris Smitherman, Patrick James Harris (Amelia); grandchildren Brad, Sarah, Josh, Casey, Scott, Jesse, Charlotte and Oliver; great grandchildren Lainey, Lily, Cade, Miles, Rhett, Josie, Corbyn, Edyn, Ransom, Deacon, Holden, Boone, Ellie and Lincoln. Preceded in death by her parents Benjamin Franklin Kimble and Lillian May Jackson Kimble, loving husband AJ Harris, son John Stephen Harris; grandchild Justin Allen Smitherman and one great grandchild, Maisy Belgard.

Services will be at 2:00pm Monday, July 25, 2022 at Greenoaks Funeral Home-9595 Florida Blvd Baton Rouge, LA with visitation from 12:00pm to service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
