

Louis Bordelon Jr., 92, passed away at his home Tuesday, July 7, 2015, following an extended illness. At his side was his wife of 65 years, Fannie Brock Bordelon. He was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Norco to Louis Bordelon Sr. of Bordelonville and Martha Olivia Guillory of Hammond. He is survived by son Louis E. "Mike" Bordelon and wife Joy of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; son James S. "Jim" Bordelon and wife Pam; great-grandchildren R. Thomas "T.J." Kennon and Sofia Agnes Kennon; brother James Richard Bordelon of LaPlace; sister-in-law Myra Watson Brock of Walker; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Burton John "Curly" Bordelon and Harold Bordelon; sisters Daisy Lee "Dee" B. Kelly and Ida Mae B. Urkewich; and brother-in-law Rodney Lee "Red" Brock. An Army Air Corps veteran, Louis proudly served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from LSU in 1980 after a long career in electrical maintenance. An avid musician, he played the fiddle, first in a band alongside his brother Curly and their uncle, Ellis Guillory, then again with his sons and brother. "LouLou" also loved any excuse to crank up his beloved Cub tractor, whether it be to mow the homestead he cherished or plowing up dirt for a garden, and sharing his cookies with T.J. and Sofia. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, from 6-8 p.m. and continuing at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, until noon services followed by military honors and burial at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are J.D. Comeaux, T.J. Kennon and Charlie Prine. Pallbearers will be his sons, nephew Bill Brock, David and Thomas Kennon, and Mark Monistere. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Salvation Army or charity of choice.
