
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at noon, at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, for Louis Henslie Faxon, Jr., 85, who died at his home on June 25, 2016. Visitation will be in the church hall from 11 a.m. until the service at noon. The service will be officiated by Rev. Pattye Hewitt and Rev. Fernie Rivera. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patricia; son Louis Faxon, III (Michelle); step-son Scott Angelico; grandson, Cameron Faxon; granddaughter Rachel Faxon Hill (B.J.), and their children Isaiah and Malachi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis H. Faxon and Edna Dell McFall Faxon; brother Richard Faxon; sisters Elizabeth Faxon Berg, and Mary Faxon Bardell. Lou was born on July 13, 1930 in Staples, MN. While at Cass Lake High School, he participated in both football and track&field. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, flying many missions over N. Korea. Upon his return, he graduated from LSU in Architectural Engineering. He began his architectural career working for A. Hays Town, and later managed his own architectural firm for many years. He designed many public buildings/spaces, such as the U.S. Kidd Memorial and Riverfront Plaza, and private homes in the Baton Rouge community. He also taught in the LSU School of Architecture. He served on the Board of Baton Rouge Symphony, and also as its President. He was also a charter member of the City Club of Baton Rouge. He also served as Commander of the U.S Power Squadron, and taught safe boating classes for years. Lou was a person of many and varied interests. He loved sailing on his sailboat "Trilogy", celestial navigation, and sailboat races across the Gulf of Mexico. He loved reading and discussing the history of the American Indians, the Middle Ages, the Civil War, World War II, and Christian Theology. Lou was an exceptional cook and loved having dinner parties. He also had a passion for opera. Lou possessed a quick wit and zest for life. Above all, he loved his God, his family, and his church. Lou was courageous in dealing with many health problems in recent years.
