Mae Brabham Willie of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed from this earth into the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ on January 16, 2022. By the great mercy of God, and in answer to her longstanding prayer (i.e. strongly worded suggestion to the Father), she passed peacefully in her sleep at home from natural causes.
She was born to Arthur and Bessie Brabham in Kentwood, Louisiana on November 5, ____. As anyone who knew her can attest, she did not want her age divulged…even to the end. (🙂)
She is preceded in death by her parents and also by her husband Murlin Willie of Baton Rouge.
She is survived by her two daughters, Glenda S. Strickland (and husband Keith) of Prairieville, LA and Darleen M. Heartfield (and husband Jamie) of Chattanooga, TN.
She is survived by her brother Arthur Clyde Brabham and his wife Paulette and their children Danny and Amanda of Kentwood, Louisiana. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Garrett Strickland (and wife Sarah), Maegan Cox (and husband Andy), Corey Heartfield and Camille Heartfield, and her six great grandchildren, Alyssa and Hunter Strickland, Madilyn, Olivia, Landon, and Elizabeth Cox.
In her own words, she summed it up best, she loved her family and she loved life.
Loving her family really was her life. One way she enjoyed doing this was through food: she loved cooking and planning meals for and with her family.
She also loved reading and learning new things, traveling, gardening, and finding a good bargain, sitting on her patio looking at her pool or on a balcony overlooking the ocean.
To her last breath on this earth, her mind was as quick as a leopard, ready to pounce whenever her wit or wisdom saw an opportunity. Friendly teasing was absolutely part of her love language as was sage advice, and she doled out both freely, even if not asked for, but always in love.
And as she always signed off in her letters, "Love you, miss you, see you. Mae/Mom/Mimi.”
Mae/Mom/Mimi, you are greatly loved, you are already deeply missed, and we are taking needed comfort in knowing we will see you again.
