

"Mamie Tortorich Lopiccolo, age 89, peacefully entered into heaven on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 10:10 AM. She was born February 28, 1930 in Hammond, Louisiana to Victoria Tortorich and Phillip Tortorich, and was married to her late husband, Joseph J. Lopiccolo for 45 years. She had 3 brothers 5 sisters, and is survived by her sister Pauline Gaudet. Mamie was a loving mother of three to late daughter Gail Jacobs (survived by her husband Terry Jacobs), and is survived by daughters, Lorraine Molero (Anthony Molero Jr) and Jody Manzella (David Manzella Sr). Mamie was an incredible grandmother to her many grandchildren. She was affectionately called "Maw Maw" by her 9 grandchildren; Michelle Dennis (L. Allen Dennis Jr.), Dominique Manzella, David Manzella Jr. (Grace Manzella), Dylan Manzella, Destiny Manzella, Joseph Molero (Amanda Molero), Michael Molero (Jennifer Molero), Christina Terrebonne (Eddie Terrebonne) and Matthew Jacobs. Mamie was a beloved great grandmother and was dearly called "Gi Gi" by her 13 great grandchildren; L. Allen Dennis III, Brielle Dennis, Oliver Manzella, Calvin Manzella, Hayden Molero, Madeleine Molero, Camille Molero, Mikayla Glendening, Giuliana Glendening, Shawn Glendening, Austin Jacobs, Alexandra Rodrigue and Abygail Rodrigue, and great-great grandchild Isabella Jacobs. She loved her family unconditionally and was a blessing to everyone. Mamie was originally a resident of New Orleans, where she was very involved in St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and School. She was the chairman of their annual fair, head of the room mothers, and would volunteer her time in the school cafeteria. She later worked at Toy Center for many years until employed by Universal Furniture, where she worked for 37 years. She was the manager of Universal's Baby Department, and then worked on the sales floor where she made Top Sales Woman several times. After living in New Orleans, Mamie moved to Chalmette, and later relocated to Central, Louisiana due to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Mamie also enjoyed many other activities like bowling, dancing, and music. She was on a bowling league for 50 years, and found most joy in singing and dancing with her family. Mamie was a beautiful, loving, and strong independent woman who will forever be loved and admired by her family and friends. She touched everyone she met, and she will live on and be celebrated through everyone she touched. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church, 3053 Dauphine Street, New Orleans, LA 70117 (former St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church), from 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., in celebration and memory of Mamie's beautiful and blessed life. Following Mass, family and friends are welcome to gather for the Entombment Service at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Homes & Gardens at 701 W Virtue ST Chalmette, LA 70043.
