Margaret Anna Moore left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 9/14/2025. She fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith. Margaret was born on 11/25/1932 in Manhattan, Kansas. While in college, on April 4, 1954, she married Thomas Wesley Moore. She graduated from Kansas State University with a BS degree in Home Economics and Nursing in 1955. She then transferred to Kansas University and graduated with honors from The University of Kansas School of Medicine with a degree in Nursing in 1955. After moving to Baton Rouge with her husband, Tom, she worked for several decades at Baton Rouge General as a Charge Nurse managing 27-bed units on Medical and Surgical floors. She also managed the Burn Unit, Pediatrics, I.C.U., Urology, Orthopedics, Neuro, Eye Unit, and Telemetry floors. Margaret was a social butterfly. She would light up the room when she walked in. She always focused on others, rather than herself. Margaret was a lifetime active member of the Disciples of Christ, attending First Christian Church in Baton Rouge. She and her husband, Tom, raised all three children in the church. She was active in Friendship Force, AAUW, League of Women’s Voters, Great Books, Great Decisions, and volunteered for many years in many charitable activities. She was active in Ochsner Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). Margaret Moore was married to Thomas Wesley Moore in 1954 and had three children. In their 70 years of marriage, they enjoyed extensive travel to 116 countries and territories. We celebrate her life and her legacy and appreciate the 92 years God gave her to us. She exemplified Matthew 25:21 which states, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” She is survived by her three loving children; Stephen Christian Moore (Tina), Michael Harlan Moore (Brenda), and Lorraine Marie Moore Pitre (Scott); her sister Mary Lou Anderson; grandchildren Cameron Moore, Tyler Moore (Kelbie), Savanna Margaret Deynzer Matthews (Dylan), Shelby Deynzer, and Kaylee Deynzer, Blake Cason (Amanda), Erin Sullivan, Brigid Davidson (John Tyler), Olivia Pitre, Paden Pitre; great grandchildren Kiera Moore, Aliyah Moore, Kennedy Moore, Holland Matthews, Torin Davidson, Ada Davidson, Coral Ford, Iris Davidson, and Camp Thomas Moore. She is preceded in death by her husband, Col. Thomas Wesley Moore; and her parents, Christian Heinrich Ficke and Belle Viers Ficke. The family is grateful for the professional loving care of Doctor Jose Mendoza and the bridgeway Hospice staff. Expressions of your loving administration are deeply appreciated and instead of flowers or food a Memorial Fund to honor Margaret Anna Moore may be sent to First Christian Church, 8484 Old Hammond Highway, BR, LA 70809. Private family burial service will be held at Green Oaks Memorial Park.
