
She was a retired utility officer for Bank of America, a native of Ottawa, Ill., and a resident of St. James Place of Baton Rouge. Marge died at 5:21 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice of natural causes at age 84 with her family present. Marge attended St. Olaf College before her marriage to Walter Vern Garrison in 1946. She and Walt spent many years traveling the country during his naval career. After his retirement, they moved to LaCanada, Calif., where they had many wonderful years together before Walt's passing in 1983. After Marge's retirement from Bank of America in 1987, she moved to Baton Rouge. In her retirement years she enjoyed doing crafts with the ladies of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior as well as other volunteer work. She began living at the St. James Assisted Living Center in 2005. Her angelic smile will be missed by family and friends. There will be a private family service Saturday, May 1, conducted by the Rev. Kim Little-Brooks. Marge is survived by her daughters, Pamela Chehaske, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Patricia Freeman, of Denham Springs; sister, Althea Albertus, of Sandwich, Ill.; brother, Robert Pierson, of Vancouver, British Columbia; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Vern Garrison. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 3555 Jones Creek Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
