
A native of Amarillo, Texas, a former resident of Cleveland and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at St. James Place at age 72. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Amarillo High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Oberlin College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She taught in the public schools in Cleveland before moving to Baton Rouge, where she taught at Runnells for more than 15 years. "Tex" was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, where she served on the board of deacons, was a Sunday school teacher and served on the church's board of education. Survived by her husband of 49 years, Lawrence J. Davis; two sons, Steven J. Davis and wife Helen of Centerville, Ohio, and Robert Davis of New Orleans; and three grandchildren, Janette, Elizabeth and Katherine Davis. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 9755 Goodwood Blvd., on Monday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. George Haile. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens, North Olmsted, Ohio.
