

A native of Brookhaven, MS, and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Mary Ethel Leggett Sandahl passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2015. She was born in Allen, MS on October 19, 1925. Mrs. Sandahl was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, William Martin “Bill” Sandahl, and her parents, William Pierce Leggett and Mary Kimble Leggett. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas McNair Sandahl and William Steve Sandahl, and their spouses respectively, Patricia Pender Sandahl and Kathy Moser Sandahl; six grandchildren, Todd William Sandahl and spouse Debb, Trent Joseph Sandahl and spouse Kate, Trisha Sandahl Ourso and spouse Clay, Allyson Sandahl Sadler and spouse Howard, Melanie Sandahl, and Jason Steve Sandahl; eight great grandchildren; and one brother, R.C. Leggett and spouse Tommie Lee. Mrs. Sandahl was an active member of Ingleside United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees, taught Sunday School, and participated in numerous church organizations. She volunteered for a number of years at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and was a member of the Tara Garden Club, serving as president one year. Mrs. Sandahl worked as an administrative assistant for the City Parish Department of Public Works for 37 years. The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to the wonderful and caring sitters at Moore Care LLC, to Michael Selders, and to Alisha Byrd. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Ingleside United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 25, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ali Young and Chris Andrews. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Todd Sandahl, Trent Sandahl, Jason Sandahl, Clay Ourso, Howard Sadler, Mike Ginn, Michael Selders, and Amy Cole.
