Matilda Reynolds Powell

A retired displayer for Home Interiors and Gifts and a resident of Zachary, she died at 11:01 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Lane Nursing Home, Zachary. She was 73 and a native of Jonesboro. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes on Wednesday from noon until religious service in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Basil Wicker. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by her husband of 54 years, John A. "Buddy" Powell; daughter, Dianne James; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kevin Powell, John and Charmaine Powell, and Steve and Millie Powell; three brothers and sisters-in-law, LaVell and Marion Reynolds, Lewis and Nita Reynolds, and Levy and Bonnie Reynolds; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Van and Elizabeth Cockran; sister-in-law, Shirley Powell; and eight grandchildren, Paul, Robert, Jennifer and John James, David Powell Jr., Stephanie Powell, and Carmen and Adam Letourneau. Preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lovie Reynolds; brother, LaDell Reynolds; and sister, Carrie Lorraine Reynolds.
