
McCauley Otis Bullock, born Aug. 19, 1919, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, in Baton Rouge after a brief illness. He was 91, a retired barber and resident of Greenwell Springs. Visitation at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Mike Moroney and Deacon Phillip BeJeaux. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Emily Dolenc Bullock; three children, McCauley O. Bullock Jr. and his wife, Helen LeSueur, Lindsey A. Bullock and his wife, Terri Colomb, and Jean Anne Bullock Songy and her husband, Michael; nine grandchildren, Mary Louise Bullock Benton and husband Chris, Lauren Bullock Hover and husband Wills, McCauley O. Bullock III, William LeSueur Bullock, John Allen Bullock, Julie Ann Bullock, Emily Kathryn Songy, Elaine Elizabeth Songy and Gerald Michael Songy; a sister-in-law, Harriet Crow Bullock; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Dewitt Bullock and Minnie Penny Bullock; as well as his brothers and sisters, Archie Bullock, Ivy Rhodus, Alton Bullock, Ozzie Walker, Ila Bullock, Leo Bullock, Lindsey Bullock, Olen Bullock, Juanita Varnado, Bertha Overstreet and Ella May Spencer. Papa Cauley was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was an avid and accomplished gardener and enjoyed sharing his abundant produce with family and friends. He had a deep love and respect of God's woods and waters which he shared with his children and grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Ellis, Paul White, Billy Walker, Shannon Thibodaux and Pat Mack. The family wishes to thank all of his caregivers, Ann Wisecarver, Sandy Punchard, Geneva Wesley, Geraldine Curtis and Mary Eloise Paul. A special thanks goes to Dr. Ausef and the staff on the Third Floor of Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet, as well as Dr. Gerald Barber and the staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge, Butterfly Wing, Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City.
