
"We mourn, but not as those who have no hope," (1 Thessalonians 4:13), at the loss of our beloved leader, husband, and father, Dr. J. Barry Roberts, after a long and courageous battle with extended illness. He died at his home in Baton Rouge at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007. He was 53 and a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr. Roberts practiced family medicine for nearly 20 years in our community. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the body of believers at Church of the Highlands for their unwavering love and support and also to the medical professionals at Renal Associates, J.H. Lee Kidney Center and Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Letitia Roberts; daughter, Lauren A. Roberts; son, Fred Young; mother, Stella M. Roberts; mother-in-law, Vera Goodlow; and two sisters along with a host of other family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Ronald Roberts. Visitation at Church of the Highlands, 17240 Perkins Road, on Friday, Dec. 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 pm.
