Michael Neyland

Michael Dwaine Neyland, Sr., who was a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and resident of Liberty, Mississippi, passed away of natural causes in his home in the night sometime between Oct.1 and Oct. 2, 2020 at the age of 71. He passed away in the same home as his father had 30 years before him, and this was something he wanted. Michael served as SP4 with the Sixth US Army during Viet Nam. Following discharge, Michael worked for the Baton Rouge Fire Department, Local 198 Pipefitters Union, and had been the owner of Neyland´s Plumbing, Neyland´s Diner, T-Mike Sportscards, and was the co-owner of Sasquatch Adventures LLC.

Michael was a charming man with a kind and caring soul who often helped those in need. He was loved by all who knew him.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Harry Neyland from Liberty, Mississippi; his mother, Edith Burque Neyland of Gonzales, Louisiana; his brother, Steven Neyland of Gonzales, Louisiana; and former wife Linda Norton of Longview, Washington.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Poe, husband Jason, and son Jerison of Kelso, Washington; Michael Dwaine Neyland, Jr., currently residing in Puerto Colombia, Colombia; sister, Sharon Neyland Green Hebert of Gonzalez, Louisiana; and brother, Charles (Chuck) Neyland of Gonzales, Louisiana.

Michael is also survived by his former wife Freda Moore of Gloster, Mississippi and her children Richie Carraway of Summit, Mississippi; Tammy Chavers of Amite, Louisiana; and Michelle Womack of Tylertown, Mississippi. Also survived by former wife Darla Mckenzie and her children Makayla Etheridge, Savannah Wisner, and Reannah Wisner, all of Summit, Mississippi.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 12:00 pm-2 pm. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 2pm at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Due to Covid-19 we ask you to please wear a face covering while in attendance, and there will also be a live facebook stream starting around 1:45pm from Michael Neyland´s facebook page for those who can not attend.
