

Michael “Mike” John Spaulding, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Illinois, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the age of 52. He was a facilities manager for 20+ years, the past 16 at Ochsner Hospital. He had a love for motorcycles, and was an avid NASCAR and Indy car fan. Mike was a published author, patented the keg trailer, founder of Spaulding Charities: A Family Foundation, and a volunteer of Broadmoor Methodist Food Bank. In his passing, as an organ, tissue and bone donor, Mike was able to share the gift of life. Mike was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle that will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of six years, Monique Scott-Spaulding; father, Carl Spaulding; two sisters, Suzanne S. Cotter (Richard), and Katherine Bell (Julia Young); brother, David Spaulding (Marty); father in law, James Scott; three sisters in law, Marchetta Atkins (Michael), Ashley Sandford (Terry), and Ana-Alicia Scott; 7 nephews; 5 nieces; many aunts and uncles; numerous great nieces and nephews; and many devoted employees and friends. Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Maryanne Spaulding; and his son, Conner Spaulding. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Baton Rouge, 10925 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 6pm until 8pm and resume on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 9am until funeral service at 11am.
