
A retired registered nurse, Mildred Leo Mangrum Curtis died on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Woman's Hospital. She was 77, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Attala County, Miss. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and an avid gardener. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, March 6, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes in the funeral home chapel on Saturday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Visitation at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Zama, Miss., on Sunday from 2 p.m. until religious service at 3 p.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Melody Marino and husband Joseph, of Metairie; two sons, Randall Curtis and wife Janet, of Baton Rouge, and Mark Curtis and wife Nola, of Brandon, Miss.; a sister, Carolyn Dallas, of Ethel, Miss.; a brother, Kenneth Mangrum, of Ethel; seven grandchildren, Amie Cabell, Adriene Ashley, Shelley Jackson, Lauren Fitzsimons, Tyler Fitzsimons, Ryan Curtis and Hannah Curtis; two great-grandchildren, Savana Ashley and Ada Ashley; and son-in-law, Dale Fitzsimmons, of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen D. Curtis; parents, James I. and Carrie G. Mangrum; and two daughters, Gwen Fitzsimons and Sheila Carter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Baton Rouge or the 4-H Club.
