Myrtle Bruce Evans went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. She was 95, a native of Galvez, LA and a long time resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Myrtle was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Charles James Evans. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Evans Headrick; three grandchildren, Angela Kaye Headrick, Kristie Headrick Robison (Derek), and James Douglas Headrick (Julie); three great-grandchildren, William Cody Robison, Tyler Evan Robison, and James Finnley Headrick. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents Effie James Bruce and Laurence B. Bruce; her four sisters, Sylvia Brown, Alpha Stevens, Coleen Nicholas, Libby Maggio and one brother, James “Sonny” Bruce; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. She was a member of Oakcrest Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, on Saturday, February 20, 2016 beginning at 12:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm in the chapel conducted by Rev. Milford Walters. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be Larry Bruce, Barry Keith Bruce, Derek Robison, Cody Robison, Tyler Robison, and Jimmy Evans. A heartfelt thanks to her hospice caregivers, Ursula and Tiffany, and to the doctors and nurses of Mary Bird Perkins for the love, care, and compassion given to our family.
