

“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.” Matthew 25:23 Nicholas “Nick” Anthony Macaluso, Sr. passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the age of 94. He was a native of Tickfaw, LA and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA.
He PFC in the Army, stationed at 28th Infantry Artillery Division Headquarters. He was deployed to Göeppinger Germany as an officer’s liaison during the Korean War. Nick married the love of his life when he returned in 1953. He was a retired mechanic from Westinghouse Electric and was a member was IBEW Local 995. Nick was also a continuous member of American Legion Post 38 for 65 years. In 2022, he was showcased as the “Soldier Salute” at the LSU vs. SC baseball game. He loved fishing, gardening, and watching every LSU sporting event. His main hobby was “MacGuyver-ing” anything and everything that anyone needed repaired. But above all, Nick cherished the time he spent with his family. Nick is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lou Guzzardo Macaluso; children, Mary Carbo, Nick Macaluso, Jr. (Erin Colclough) and Linda Barbati (Keith); grandchildren, Renee’ Carbo Meyers (Caleb), Kevin Carbo (Tara), Michael Macaluso, Alyssa Macaluso (Jamie Clements), Nicole Barbati Sibley (Blake), and Ashleigh Barbati Mullins (Christopher); great-grandchildren, Gabe, Jude, Lucy, Annie, Laikyn, Lawson, Lilly, Sophie, Peyton, Aubrie, and Lincoln; dog, Bella; and a host of other loving family members and friends. Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Nace and Lucy Macaluso; siblings, Joe and Celia; son-in-law, Keith Carbo; and great-granddaughter, Josie Mullins. Visitation will be a Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 4pm until 7pm. Visitation will resume at St. Thomas More, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 9am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.
