

Just 17 days before her 93rd birthday, Norma Fussell passed away on Saturday, April 2nd. A native of Kentwood, LA, and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved spending time with family and being "on the go". Norma was active in Winbourne Ave. Baptist Church and more recently Florida Blvd. Baptist Church. Her love of music led her to participate in choirs at both churches, as well as Sweet Adelines. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Cheri and Mike DeCoux, her son and daughter-in-law Terry and Faye Brown, her son and daughter-in-law Keith and Jan Brown, daughter Janice Fussell, son Michael Fussell, daughter and husband Kathy and Raymond Scallan. Also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Alta Mae and Robert Daniel and brother and sister-in-law Cart and Reona Varnado, and sister-in-law Jackie Varnado. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Mitchell M. "Mike" Fussell, a daughter-in-law, Linda Boyett Brown, infant grandson Jared Keith Brown, her parents T.C. and Minnie Varnado, her mother-in-law and father-in-law Belle and Enoch Brown, her sisters Viola Hill, Mildred Miscar and Carleen "Toddy" Brumfield, and brothers Harold, Sheldon, Leonard and Landon Varnado. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5th, at Florida Boulevard Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Folsom, LA, at Semaloosa Cemetery, 80000 Fitzgerald Church Road, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering c/o Spring Creek Baptist Church, 73038 Hwy .1054, Kentwood, LA. 70444.
