
A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007. Odell was born inBonneville, Ark., and while in the U.S. Army during World War II, served in the China Burma India Theater. Odell wore the American Theater and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbons, earning Good Conduct and World War II Victory Medals and Bronze Service Star. Following the war, he lived in Baton Rougefor more than 50 years and was a sales manager in the broadcasting industry when he retired. Odell was also an avid gardener and fisherman and loved to travel, making many trips across the country. Odell died at the age of 85 while in nursing care in Atlanta. Odell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertha M. Cooper; a son and daughter-in-law, Calvin Dale and Dottie Cooper of Alpharetta, Ga.; a grandson and his wife, Chad A. and Sarah Cooper of Cumming, Ga.; a granddaughter, Shawn A. Cooper of Alpharetta; and two sisters, Lois Seawright of Maburn, Miss., and Elizabeth Brown of Madison, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nettie Cooper; three sisters, Mamie Glasgow, Amy Frizzell and Bethel Lee; and three brothers, Buster, Curtis and Beryl Cooper. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m.to 9 p.m.on Sunday, March 4, and from 9 a.m.until funeral service at 11 a.m.on Monday. Interment will be inResthavenGardensof Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway.
