A kind and gentle spirit has left this Earth to be with God. Patsy Faser, 70, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was a resident of Batchelor, native of New Orleans and former longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Patsy was an honor graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and obtained a degree in English from LSU. She began her teaching career at her alma mater, SJA, while her baby sister was still a student there and with many of her former teachers now her colleagues. While working for the Louisiana State Board of Education, Patsy received her master's degree in computer science from the then-University of Southwestern Louisiana. She retired as a professor of computer science at Southern University, where she had the opportunity to share her love of teaching with young people who were anxious to learn. After her retirement, Patsy worked a few hours a week at the Innis Library, where she could again interact with young people and share her love of books. After she and Chris moved to their new home in the country, Patsy easily transitioned into the country life and savored the many new friends she and Chris made. Patsy's close friends were like family and with them she shared her love of her country home, watching things grow, cooking good foot and reading. Patsy's greatest joy was supporting her husband's love of the outdoors, frequently joining him in earlier years, and entertaining their fishing and hunting pals and their wives, always cooking memorable hunt meals. Patsy had a delightful way with words and used her gift of wit and repartee with grace and humor. She leaves to grieve for her and celebrate her life her devoted husband of 48 years, Chris Faser III; sister, Vickie and husband Paul Jastram, of Calhoun, Ga.; and beloved nephews, Benjamin Jastram, of Lafayette, and Daniel Jastram, of Calhoun. Preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Victoria Flanagan; mother,-in-law, Mariska "Biz" Faser; and father-in-law, Chris Faser Jr. Patsy dearly loved "the girls," Sugar and Diana, pets who gave her and Chris many hours of joy and unconditional love.
