Patrick J. Blanchard

Blanchard, Patrick J.A retired member of Sheet Metal Local #214 and native of Lutcher, Patrick J. Blanchard died at 4:32 am on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Sunrise Senior Living on Siegen Lane. He was a resident of Pride and a former resident of New Roads and Baton Rouge. Patrick was 83 and had proudly served his country as a decorated U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am celebrated by the Rev. Michael J. Moroney. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary "Lin" Chidester Blanchard; daughter, Andrea Denise Hicks and husband Russell; son, Patrick Guy Blanchard and wife Kris Cangelosi; three grandchildren, Stacey Johnston and husband Todd, Amanda Holliday and husband Austin, and Kayla Blanchard; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Sydney Johnston; and numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mabel Barbay Blanchard; two brothers, Leroy and Bernard Blanchard; and sister, Theresa Blanchard. Patrick was a member and longtime usher at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a 1948 graduate of Baton Rouge High School. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
